Crawford Notch | St. Patrick’s Day

Peak: Eisenhower, Pierce, Jackson
Trails: Crawford Path, Eisenhower Loop, Webster Cliff Trail, Webster Jackson Trail
Mileage: 11.57
Elevation Gain: 3,990′
Weather: 21(F) at the trail head, 74% humidity, low winds and rising temps over time. Near optimal visibility!
Ground Conditions: The Crawford path was well packed out and frozen on the ascent this morning. Trail remained easy to follow and was well packed out over to the top of Eisenhower. There was very little snow and some icy spots near the actual summit. To tag the rock pile at the top, I took my snowshoes off, since it was completely bare. Skipping the walk back tracing earlier steps, heading from Pierce to Jackson was straightforward and the trail was easy to follow. It wasn’t the same packed out highway but it was firm and my snowshoes did not sink through once. The walk down Jackson back to the road was more of the same well packed out easy to follow trail. I kept it simple and left my snowshoes on for most of the day knowing the temps were ramping up as the day went on and was happy to televate/step off trail every now and then. I saw plenty of hikers in both light traction as well as snowshoes and everyone was enjoying both the weather and trail! There looked to be plenty of older postholes all looking pretty deep.
Notes: Ideal day to be out and about! It’s been a while since I’ve made a visit to Jackson.
