Passaconaway | 3.12.2021

Peak: Passaconway
Trails: Dicey’s Mill Trail, A few steps of Walden to the overlook
Mileage: 9.3
Elevation Gain: 2,991′
Weather: 42(F) felt like 35(F), 66% humidity, breezy with 12mph winds. After walking over from the Dicey’s overlook to the vista over on Walden there was much less wind.
Ground Conditions: Soft snow, wore snowshoes all day. Softer snow at the bottom compared to the upper portions. If you took a step too far from the center of the crusted packed trail, there would be a chance your snowshoe could be sinking in. We were taking pretty cautious steps on the way down.
Notes: A fun hike with Greg! It was great to join him for his first trip up Passaconaway as well as his first time snowshoeing! There were only a few other groups out there today so we mainly had the trail to ourselves. When budgeting time for driving up, if you aren’t already aware, there are some frost heaves that may add time to your drive depending on how much clearance your car has. Will add some pictures from the point and shoot later tonight!
