Weather: 82% Humidity. Clear, few clouds, fantastic visibility, 20(F), very low winds on the ridge. Overall great conditions! Really looked like a fantastic day for anyone in the area who got outside – looked like a ton of clear peaks all over!
Ground Conditions: Ground conditions varied slightly at times, but we mainly encountered frozen packed powder. At times the snow was a little loose, at times on the ridge no snow at all, encountered avoidable thick ice on both the trip up OBP and down LST. Based on recent reports, stuck with light traction and had no issues out there!
Notes: Great way to kick off 2021! Saw plenty of happy people & groups out on the ridge celebrating the new year. Enjoyed ideal conditions and plenty of sun for the trip out today.
