Mount Monroe August 4, 2021

Date: August 4, 2021
Peak(s): Monroe
Trails: Ammonoosuc Ravine, Monroe Loop Trail
Hut(s): Lakes of the Clouds
Mileage: 8.24
Elevation Gain: 3,244′
Weather: 58(F), 79% humidity. Great visibility for most of the day. Clouds rolling in and our overhead but pretty good views of the rock pile across the way!
Ground Conditions: Mostly dry and easy footing. Easy hops across any water!
Notes: Straightforward day out and about aside from the fact this was our first time doing any trail work. Katie and I recently took a few trainings with AMC ahead of actually volunteering. We started small considering it was our first time out. We mainly focused on the lower section of the Monroe loop on the Hut side of the mountain. Mostly looking for spots where hikers are losing the trail and finding rocks to build up scree walls. We had fun observing traffic coming up and down the trail to see if any of our updates made an impact.

Anyone interested in learning more should click through here to check it out. The training was straightforward and the people were nice.
