Sunset On Franconia Ridge | Lafayette & Lincoln

Peaks: Lincoln, Lafayette
Trails: Falling Waters, FRT, Greenleaf, Bridle Path
Mileage: 9
Elevation Gain: 3,884′
Weather: 60F at the trailhead, 40’s on the ridge, Humidity 51%, wind 10-20MPH on the ridge
Ground Conditions: Splashy spots, straight forward but wet crossings, muddy spots, standing water, dry rock for the most part on the ridge.
Notes: What an awesome night for a sunset hike on Franconia Ridge! With a little cloud cover in the distance, the sunset felt rushed. Our timing worked out pretty well and the sky stayed fairly colorful for most of the trip off of the summit of Lafayette down to the bridle path. Fairly straight forward steps up and down the loop. Ground conditions in general exceeded expectations coming out of the recent rainy period.
