Peak: Waumbek
Trails: Starr King Trail, Kilkenny Ridge Trail
Mileage: 6.9
Elevation Gain: 2,707′
Weather: 11(F), 75% humidity, snowy, overcast with low visibility.
Ground Conditions: Overall, the trail was in great shape! With the amount of folks out there the trail was pretty well broken out. In terms of traction, saw plenty of snowshoes out there, a couple skiing, a few with light traction, some with no traction. Without snowshoes, stepping off the trail people may sink in a ways. Other than that, there were a few isolated spots where bare-booted steps punched down through the trail.
Notes: Good to take out the snowshoes today! Katie and I had a viewless trip up to Starr King and made our way over to Waumbek. We caught up to a small bubble of a few different groups and in one of these was Chris Willette! After unknowingly crossing paths on a snowier occasion in the southern presidentials, it was nice to say a proper hello. While on the way down we also saw a team that set a winter FKT for bagging 48 peaks. You never know who you may cross paths with out there! We saw 5 dogs that all looked to be having lots of fun hiking. Good to see happy people enjoying a cold day in the Whites.

Snowy trees!
Heading up with televators. No rocks to be mindful of just televate and head up.
